When I started ItsQwere, I had no idea what I was doing, and in many ways I still don’t. For nearly five years I've been “faking it ‘til I make it”, doing what feels right, building all programming mostly solo – with many successes and lessons along the way.
Now it's time to expand the family. I am looking for a creative assistant to help ItsQwere advance to the next level.
This creative assistant role is for someone (of any background) who is passionate about LGBTQ culture, queer bodies, Black folks, Brown folks, human rights, trans rights, disability rights, futurism, entertainment, community building … anything that could be of interest to us living under and proximate to the BIPOC LGBTQIA+ umbrella.
This gig is for a person who has a pulse of what's going on in the news, on the streets, and in the tweets. Someone who spends admittedly too much time on social media and they're not ashamed of it. This person has ideas about engaging the community through – but not limited to – video content, music, theater, books, concerts, comedy, film, panel discussions, conversation salons, and … dare I say blogging. (Are blogs even a thing anymore?)
This job is ideal for someone who is naturally drawn to this work and already shares these interests because, to be frank, this gig pays very little. Like, I will be sending you money for GrubHub and care packages throughout our time together; occasionally sliding into your Venmo or CashApp during the bigger projects. It's closer to volunteer work than a living wage… for now.
A person based in the Bay Area or Los Angeles is great, but all of this is a wish list. If you’re the vibe, you can live on the moon for all I care. I am truly open to what the universe delivers, and I don’t expect for one person to be every single thing mentioned above.
The workload averages a few hours a month, and will flex up or down depending on the event schedule.
Anyone interested or curious, send me a DM and let’s go from there. I'm really excited about this next phase of ItsQwere and all that's ahead.
xo,
Tony T.
