Mighty Real, Hear + Qwere’s second annual live event and first fundraiser, proved to be a knock-out gaining $880 for Compton’s Transgender Cultural District.
A tremendous thanks to Nori Reed, Sampson McCormick, Barruch Porras Hernandez, Sureni Weerasekera, Dominique Gelin, and Sergio Novoa. The show wouldn’t have been possible, or nearly as superb, without the perfect eclipse of you six.
The team at Radically Fit Oakland were the first to say yes to supporting this event. Thank you for investing in safe, healthy spaces for queer and trans people of color.
Thanks to the folks behind Code Tenderloin for cultivating the inclusion of Black, brown, and marginalized folks by securing them seats at tech-industry tables.
Plant Therapy and GLBT Historical Society, your generous contributions to Mighty Real 2019 are forever appreciated.
Lastly and most greatly, a thanks to the team of Compton’s Transgender Cultural District for intentionally preserving a neighborhood that holds so much history of the LGBTQ revolution.
May the work being done today influence the lives of baby queer pioneers growing up in the shadows of our spectrum.
