Who even has capacity for yet another queer concept?

Hey queers + queens,

Even though it’s March, I’m still saying Happy New Year. 2020 has been acting a damn fool since the moment she began, but aside from a looming pandemic, Kobe dying followed by a remarkable streak of historic Black folks passing, and my feeling less-than hopeful about the next presidential election (#ThankYouElizabeth), I am optimistic about season three of Pose going into production.

Thankfully - finally! - media is inundated with queer events, podcasts, platforms, and lately I’ve been wondering about the necessity for Hear + Qwere. Does anyone even have the capacity for yet another queer concept?

Holding space for like-minded and curiously-minded folks is important because, while all types of humans have participated in our events, each occasion has been exactly the space I wish I knew about when I was a budding gayby.

I look forward to embarking on the 12-month plan set for Qwere; claiming and executing on these initiatives (and more!) with folks who value spirituality, self-love, and human interactions. Black and Brown queers are my priority, and also, Qwere spaces are always for anyone feeling marginalized within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and our allies.

Please join for our first 2020 event on Saturday April 4 at 12:30 p.m. in Oakland. Fresh Start, a vegetarian brainstorm brunch, is free with RSVP to info@itsqwere.com.

Together let’s explore new ways to unite, empower, and celebrate QTPOC+ and marginalized queers in and around the Bay Area.
