Announcing our ’24/’25 Season, including the return of Mighty Real
Today, we announced Season ’24/’25, our sixth season, which includes the return of the sold-out live production, Mighty Real: A Sketch Variety Show. Additional programs are a free, community-focused Honoree Brunch during Pride Month, an immersive fashion experience this fall, and virtual events throughout the summer.
To launch the ’24/’25 season and kick-off Pride Month, ItsQ will host a brunch on Sunday, June 2 honoring attendees past, present, and future. This free event will be hosted at the new Chan National Queer Arts Center in San Francisco’s Mission District and features a preview performance of the programming ahead. Mighty Real: A Sketch Variety Show returns for its third year!
The cast of In Living Color, the sketch comedy inspiration for Mighty Real.
Presented by community social group ItsQwere, Mighty Real is a live stage production of scripted comedy, song, costume, and dance written, styled and performed by queer artists of color. For 2024, the theme is “must see TV”, spoofing shows like Game of Thrones, Judge Judy, and Abbott Elementary.
The mission of ItsQwere is to create events that welcome all while celebrating historically overlooked narratives: voices of Black & Brown LGBTQ, transgender & non-binary folks, women & femmes, plus-size bodies, and people living with disabilities. Learn more about us on our website here.
We’re looking for 6 performers with on-stage experience in comedic plays, improv, and/or sketch comedy. Experience in singing and/or movement is encouraged, but not required. Audition sides will be provided at the audition. No need to prepare a monologue.
Auditions will be held in person on Sunday, May 19th, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM in San Francisco. If you cannot attend in person but are interested in auditioning, please visit the Audition Info link.
